Job Summary Join Collins Aerospace as a senior mechanical structural engineer to provide high-impact technical and analytical support for Engine & Control Systems and Environmental & Airframe Control Systems products from preliminary design through production and operational services. As a key member of a cross-functional engineering team, you’ll help ensure our components meet the highest standards of performance, safety, and reliability—whether they’re conventionally built or manufactured through advanced additive processes.
What You Will Do
Perform structural analysis of conventional and additively manufactured complex aerospace components including static, dynamic, thermal (steady state and transient), fatigue life, fracture mechanics (residual life) predictions and damage tolerance analyses.
Provide documentation of analysis results and recommendations in the form of formal reports and presentations for management and customers.
Assist in creating test plans and support validation and verification testing of components for thermal and dynamic performance and behavior. Use this information to calibrate and improve the analytical methods.
Participate in cross-discipline integrated product team as structures focal to provide design recommendations and solutions to develop products that meet technical, weight and cost targets.
Continuously pursue ways to develop, improve, and validate analytical methods and processes to improve productivity and cost effectiveness.

Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience with finite element modeling tools such as Abaqus, Ansys, Nastran or equivalent.
Experience in fracture mechanics and NASGRO or equivalent tool is a plus.
Possess experience in 2D and 3D CAD tools including UG NX, CATIA or equivalent.
Experience in dynamic/vibration analysis and testing.
