Transmission Planning & Studies Engineer - Mid Level
Join the team at POWER Engineers, a global consulting firm in the energy sector, to drive cutting‑edge transmission planning studies for utilities and ISOs.
Roles And Responsibilities Lead the preparation of computer‑based models and perform extensive power system studies on utility transmission and distribution systems as well as industrial/commercial electrical power systems. Conduct feasibility studies, system impact studies, reactive compensation studies, critical clearing time studies, stability (transient & dynamic) studies, long/short‑range planning studies, short‑circuit studies, load flow analyses, interconnection model development, power factor correction, and other related analyses. Act as a technical liaison with other engineers and customers to interface on project deliverables and proposal development.
Required Education/Experience
BSEE
Five (5) or more years of experience in transmission planning system studies
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including proposal writing and reporting
Minimum three (3) years of experience with PSS/E
Experience leading projects and mentoring others
Familiarity with ERCOT, its interconnection processes, and its system impact study requirements
Willingness to travel (up to 10%)
Ability to work successfully in a customer‑focused, project‑oriented environment
Desired Education/Experience
MSEE or PhD
Five (5) or more years of experience with PSS/E
Seven to ten (7‑10) years of experience in transmission planning studies
Familiarity with additional RTOs regarding interconnection process and system impact studies
PE registration (or equivalent)
Additional desirable software: PSLF, TARA, PSCAD, Aspen Oneliner, ETAP, Power World and others as applicable
Coding experience and automation development
Benefits Base Salary Range: $102k – $167k per year.
