ICU RN Job Details
Location: Washington, DC 20007 – Georgetown area, close to waterfront parks and dining
Healthcare Setting: S44 Transplant ICU (24 beds, adult and geriatric population)
Assignment Type: Travel contract
Start Date: October 20, 2025
End Date: January 19, 2026
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Nursing Shift: 3x12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:30), weekends included
Hours per Week: 36
Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,650 – $1,770
Float Requirement: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active DC RN license (must be in hand prior to start)
BLS and ACLS certifications required
Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience, including:
Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Multi-system organ failure
IV insulin protocols
GI surgery and chronic/acute renal failure
CVA/acute stroke management
External ventricular drains (EVD), hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, ICP monitoring
Post-neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury
Respiratory/thoracic care, infection prevention, isolation precautions
Phlebotomy, surgical wounds with drains/wound vac
Charge nurse experience preferred
Experience with Cerner EMR charting system preferred
Two supervisor references required
Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
ICU Nurse Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients in the transplant ICU
Monitor and manage complex patient conditions, including post-transplant, multi-organ failure, and overflow from neurosurgery and MICU
Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, manage ventilators, and perform advanced procedures (EVD, ICP monitoring, wound vac care)
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, pharmacy, and social services
Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
Maintain strict infection prevention and isolation protocols
Document patient care accurately using the Cerner EMR system
