Job Summary & Purpose The Lead Monitor arranges, coordinates, supervises, mentors and oversees the Monitors’ efforts to provide security of program premises and safety for program clients, visitors and employees. The Lead Monitor provides safety training to the Monitor staff and ongoing safety oversight. The Lead Monitor performs Monitor duties on behalf of program clients/participants, as well as leading and training Monitors. Driving ability preferred. Duties & Responsibilities
Assign shifts, schedule Monitors around the clock, and observe each shift. Train Monitors in program operations, safety, and security expectations and procedures. Oversee operations and provide ongoing safety leadership. Monitor shelter entrance, screen bags and persons, and patrol premises to maintain security. Patrol premises to detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows and gates. Observe shelter for safe operations; report and correct spills, unsafe conditions or defective equipment. Know location of fire exits and assist participants in emergencies. Conduct room checks, maintain client compliance records and report to clinical/case management staff. Call police or fire department in emergencies such as fire or presence of unauthorized clients/persons. Protect assets, report suspicious events, and complete written reports and incident logs of daily activities. Act as a role model for participants at all times. Answer telephones, greet visitors, maintain office housekeeping and verify cleanliness of common areas. Assist shelter staff with services to clients, including set‑up for classes, meetings, meals, recreation and other events. For licensed Monitors: transport program participants to and from service locations; secure wheelchairs, car seats and other mobility devices; maintain safe vehicle operation and record trip mileage and gasoline usage; keep the program vehicle in good operating condition and clean it after each pick‑up and delivery. Enter required data into computer systems and logs. Perform other duties that may arise to support program goals. Essential Duties

Asset protection – complete written reports and incident logs of daily activities and irregularities such as unusual occurrences, equipment or property damage, theft and presence of unauthorized persons. Requirements
– Must pass a fingerprint clearance and background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications. Education
– Within 30 days of hire, must successfully complete VOALA safety training. Experience
– One year in the general security field, and/or social services / human services, and/or customer service experience. One year of proven college coursework, or completion of Careers for a Cause (C4C) or other homeless training course with a certificate can substitute for the experience requirement. Preferred Qualifications
– Current California driver’s license and clean driving record, demonstrated knowledge of CA driving laws; experience in a group residential setting preferred; experience serving the homeless preferred; related experience in a mental health or substance abuse treatment setting, or other group residential program; database familiarity; clean driving record to be insurable by VOALA insurance.
