Campus Police Officer The Campus Police Officer ensures safety and security throughout the Catholic University of America campus. The officer patrols assigned areas, responds to calls for service and law enforcement, and maintains a constant visible presence. This role requires a Special Police commission in the District of Columbia and full compliance with university security procedures.

Responsibilities

Patrol assigned campus areas, secure buildings, and respond to police service requests.

Effect arrests of offenders within authority and maintain lawful order.

Control traffic, enforce traffic regulations, and respond to emergency alarms and fire alarms.

Investigate criminal and non-criminal activities on campus, vehicle accidents, and injuries of campus persons.

Prepare police reports, respond to inquiries, and maintain documentation of duties.

Focus on crime prevention, investigation, safety education, emergency preparedness, response, and recovery.

Safeguard all university property in possession per guidelines and report items needing attention (e.g., broken windows, lights out).

Perform other duties as assigned by university leadership.

Qualifications

High School diploma or G.E.D. and possession of a current U.S. driver’s license appropriate for university vehicles.

Must be a U.S. citizen and capable of communicating effectively orally and in writing.

Must be able to obtain a Special Police commission in the District of Columbia and possess a valid motor vehicle driving record (MVR) with annual clearance through the Office of Environmental Health and Safety.

Must be capable of carrying out police-related tasks and possess a working knowledge of District of Columbia laws pertaining to enforcement and protection of life and property.

Salary and Hours Projected salary range: $25.32 per hour.
