Director, Global Travel Sourcing
Join Carnival Corporation as Director of Global Travel Sourcing. The role is responsible for sourcing activities across air travel, hotel, and ground transportation, reporting directly to Vice President – Global Strategic Sourcing.
The Director will lead a global strategy to support strategic sourcing efforts across Carnival brands, working closely with vendors and stakeholders throughout all Carnival Corporation brands.
Job Functions
Lead overall Travel category strategy. Develop and execute negotiations, RFQs/RFIs/RFPs for category related goods and services. Establish goals to strategically source a portfolio of products and services in accordance with established Carnival Sourcing processes.
Partner and collaborate with Corporate leadership and brands to effectively leverage scale, simplify the supplier base, and maximize savings for guest, crew, and corporate travel.
Participate in developing and ensuring business analytics and reporting is established for targeted areas of responsibility. Leverage a market perspective to quickly assimilate external information (market drivers, macroeconomic conditions, etc.) to develop associated strategies.
Ensure strong involvement with all key stakeholders to gain intricate knowledge of their needs and leverage points for each area. Establish and maintain close relationships with senior level business unit management.
Perform project management duties which will include overseeing and ensuring quality delivery of assigned projects; collect, measure, report and communicate progress with key stakeholders.
Assist the Vice President – Global Strategic Sourcing in other areas as needed such as preparing presentations, performing analytics, etc.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Responsible for global travel sourcing strategy (air, hotel, ground transportation), impacting both shore and fleet operations across the corporation.
Expected to address complex sourcing challenges, analyze market conditions, and develop innovative solutions for cost optimization and supplier management.
Demonstrated ability to create strategic supplier partnerships that create a competitive advantage for the corporation.
Strong facilitation and project management skills. Strong analytical skills. Strong ability to interface with stakeholders at all levels including Sr. Executives.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; including presentation skills.
Solid understanding of and experience with Travel Category and industry (air, hotel, ground transportation). Ability to negotiate and optimize commercial terms.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Business Administration/Supply Chain or related. Master’s Degree preferred.
10+ year track record with significant experience in global complex organizations and strategic sourcing. Experience in sourcing Air Travel is preferred, with a global spend component.
Strong experience in sourcing strategy creation and execution (e.g., 7 Step sourcing methodology). Experience with Sourcing/Procurement systems.
Experience in sourcing/purchasing for innovation-based and/or complex environments.
Physical Demands Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Requires regular movement throughout Carnival facilities.
Travel Less than 25% non-shipboard travel likely.
Work Conditions Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. This position is classified as “in-office.” As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Mondays and Fridays. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
