Job Summary
Advancement at CU Boulder invites applications for the Managing Senior Director of Development (MSDOD). This senior leadership role partners with the Assistant Dean for Advancement and other college and university leaders to advance fundraising strategy, secure major philanthropic support, and oversee a high‑performing advancement team that aligns with the college’s academic mission.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of seven development professionals, including day‑to‑day operations, performance management, and professional growth.
Supervise a total of seven FTEs, including a development assistant.
Provide strategic support on proposal development, donor strategy, and team metrics.
Serve as a member of the Advancement Management Team on broader division initiatives.
Manage a portfolio of 60–80 major and principal gift prospects, with a focus on Colorado donors and alumni.
Develop and execute personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans in partnership with campus colleagues.
Conduct donor travel and represent the College of Arts and Sciences and CU Boulder at strategic events and meetings.
Maintain detailed donor engagement records using Salesforce and other advancement tools.
Set annual fundraising goals and team performance benchmarks.
Collaborate with college leadership to align fundraising strategy with institutional priorities.
Support CU Boulder’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all fundraising activities.
Travel locally, regionally, and nationally as needed; work hybrid schedule; occasional evenings or weekends.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; master’s degree or CFRE certification preferred.
5+ years of professional fundraising experience with at least 1+ years in team leadership.
Proven success in major gifts fundraising, donor strategy, and relationship building.
Strong communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.
Proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft Office, LinkedIn, Zoom, and Teams.
Commitment to donor‑centered fundraising, inclusivity, and the mission of the College.
Experience managing a gift officer or sales team is highly desirable.
Background in liberal arts subject areas is a plus.
Experience in a comprehensive higher‑education fundraising campaign preferred.
Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $155,000 – $185,000 annually. Relocation assistance available within Advancement guidelines. Comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, retirement plans, paid time off, tuition assistance, and local transit pass.
