General Surgery - Open Rank-General Surgeon
University of South Florida (USF), Department of Surgery is seeking a well‑trained, Board Certified and fellowship‑trained General Surgeon at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level to join a hospital based practice. The ideal candidate should be clinically experienced with excellent surgical skills and judgment. Communication skills, emotional intelligence and commitment to a team‑based practice are critical. Responsibilities: Teaching duties: Recognized skills in education of residents and medical students; active participation in departmental residency training and educational programs; well versed in education experience of medical students, residents, and clinical fellows. Research duties: Participation in research studies and QI activities. Administrative duties: Timely completion of all required training courses, including Code of Conduct course and coding courses. Clinical duties: Provide intensive care clinical services in the surgical trauma ICU, day and nighttime inhouse coverage; admit complex trauma and emergency general surgery type cases; admit transplant, general surgery, surgical oncology, OB/GYN oncology, ENT. Collect appropriate history, perform physical exam, order diagnostic tests, formulate diagnosis and treatment plans, provide health counseling. Other duties: Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum: Doctoral/Medical degree from an accredited institution or highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate or Full Professor- Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization. Minimum: Candidates must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in general surgery. Preferred: Board Certified/Eligible in general surgery with added qualifications in Surgical Critical Care.
