Medical Student and Fellowship Program Coordinator Full Time | 100% | 8 Hours | Monday-Friday 8hrs/day

Job Summary As the Medical Student and Fellowship Program Coordinator, this position provides overall high-level support to the Medical Student Education Program, such as assisting with clerkship coordination, scheduling prep meetings, and preparing documents. This individual will work very closely with the Medical Student Clerkship Director and Director for Educational Programs to ensure all evaluations and program information are up to date and complete. This individual will also work with our OSIG medical student coordinators to plan events for medical students interested in Orthopedics. There may be other duties as needed.

The Medical Student and Fellowship Program Coordinator position is a position within the education unit tasked with coordinating and organizing the activities and clerkships for the existing medical student program and assisting with program coordination and yearly conferences for the fellowship Program. The individual would work under the guidance of the Education Manager, Program Directors, and Associate Program Directors. A critical component of the position will be the coordination of all program activities for the medical student program and database management for program evaluations.

The Medical Student and Fellowship Program Coordinator would also be responsible for administrative tasks including but not limited to administrative preparation for clinical competency committee leadership meetings, annual review of programs, and event coordination under the direction of the Education Manager.

Department Description The Education Unit in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery oversees, directs, and manages the education of all trainees in Orthopaedic Surgery, including medical students, residents, and fellows. The unit is headed by the Vice Chair for Education and Residency Program Director and includes the Associate Program Directors, Medical Student Clerkship Director, Fellowship Directors, Education Manager (Supervisor), and Program Coordinators. The activities of the Education Unit are multi-site, including Parnassus, San Francisco General Hospital, Mission Bay, VA, and offsite rotations.

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UCSF provides expert treatment for all aspects of musculoskeletal injuries, including inpatient and outpatient surgical care, rehabilitation, and orthotics and prosthetics. The Department of Orthopedic Surgery is responsible for the department's academic, teaching, patient care professional services and research activities under the UCSF School of Medicine. The department has over 400 academic and staff personnel at multiple sites (UC, Mt. Zion, MB, SFGH, and VAMC).

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related area and 1 or more years of related experience, and / or equivalent experience / training

Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to develop working relationships within department and with learners

Excellent organizational skills, analytical, and demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to work with extremely complex faculty calendars / schedules requires extremely well organized and detail oriented precision

Preferred Qualifications

Command in FileMaker Pro, Evalue & MS Suite

Basic knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements. Basic knowledge of health professions education industry

Basic knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. Acquiring skills in developing and implementing processes and systems. Familiarity with the administrative and operational implications in a program

Communication skills; includes verbal, written and active listening. Service oriented and responsive to questions and requests. Ability to interact in a professional, resourceful, and courteous manner.

Knowledge of educational technology and systems. Ability to troubleshoot and triages related technology issues

Investigative, data analysis, and reporting skills. Ability to generate computer reports, checking for errors, correcting and submitting accurate reports. Skills include entering, maintaining, extracting, and analyzing data in electronic systems
