Location: San Francisco Bay Area, CA (Hybrid: also open to LA or Portland) | Compensation: $70,000–$85,000 base + full benefits
Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative, project-driven environment? Seeking a Project Accountant to join our award-winning firm. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys partnering closely with project managers, ensuring financial accuracy, and contributing to meaningful projects that celebrate history, culture, and design.
You’ll play a vital role in supporting our architectural, planning, and conservation teams—helping ensure projects stay on track financially while maintaining excellence in client service.
What You’ll Do
Manage accounting functions for assigned architectural and planning projects from setup to closeout
Prepare and process client invoices, vendor invoices, and subcontractor payments accurately and on schedule
Track and reconcile project budgets, change orders, and compliance documents
Generate and review reports such as A/R, job cost summaries, and contract status updates
Partner with project managers to monitor project financial performance and provide data-driven insights
Support project audits, compliance reporting, and other financial analyses as needed
Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes and communication between departments
What We’re Looking For
3+ years of project accounting experience
Strong understanding of project billing, job costing, and contract compliance
Proficiency in Deltek Ajera or Vantagepoint (or similar ERP systems)
Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication abilities
A proactive mindset and ability to work independently within a small, collaborative accounting team
Must be a U.S. citizen or hold valid work authorization
