Summary
Under the direction of the RN, the endoscopy technician assists with patient care and safety in the endoscopy suite. Duties include supporting physicians during procedures, processing endoscopy equipment, and maintaining the overall efficiency of perioperative, endoscopy, and CSD areas. The technician performs inventory, disassembly, cleaning, high‑level disinfection, sterilization, and reassembly of operating room and endoscopy instruments. The role also involves terminal cleaning between cases. Key Responsibilities
Assists physician during endoscopic procedures. Performs high‑level disinfection and sterilization of instrumentation. Processes instruments for the operating room per manufacturer’s recommendations. Maintains and updates IFU’s for endoscopy and operating room equipment. Handles specimens and performs relevant documentation and logs. Assists patient transport and positioning. Performs additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
1–5 years preferred in a related role. Ability to assist physician in all endoscopic procedures. Knowledge of aseptic technique, infection control, sterilization techniques, equipment processing, and steam sterilizer operation. Knowledge of Universal Protocol, AORN Standards, AAMI Guidelines, ASGE Guidelines, and Spauling Classification. Ability to prioritize equipment needs for the OR/endoscopy suite. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and exercise good judgment. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Education
High School Diploma or GED. CRCST preferred. BLS required. Physical Requirements
75% or more: Stand/walk, use hands to reach/finger, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk/hear, taste/smell, lift up to 10 lbs., lift up to 25 lbs., exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals, exposure to infectious diseases. 25–50%: Lift up to 50 lbs., exposure to outdoor weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, exposure to grease or oils, exposure to a (insert level) of noise, vision requirements. Pay Range
