The Opportunity As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats.
This position works out of our Minnetonka, MN location in the Cardiac Rhythm Management division.
We are seeking a high caliber, motivated, self-driven leader to join our manufacturing engineering team where delivery catheter systems are manufactured as part of Abbott’s Cardiac Rhythm Management business unit. Individuals in this role will work on manufacturing sustaining products as well as new product launches. They will be supporting the operations team as a front-line engineer working with assemblers and troubleshooting equipment and process issues. Additionally, this position will manage projects aimed towards designing and developing manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures to meet daily production schedules while enhancing productivity and product quality.
What You’ll Work On
Engage with Front line engineers supporting operations team to build knowledge for current state operations.
Manage projects which include new production equipment, process improvements and cost reductions while supporting new product introductions. Provide guidance to other engineers and technicians. Additional responsibilities include:
Provide technical mentorship to engineers and technicians.
Conduct Process FMEAs and Process Validations.
Improve product quality, labor efficiency, and throughput through the use of Lean manufacturing concepts.
Coordinate the design, procurement, build and debug of tooling, machinery and test equipment.
Work with Product Development to ensure Design for Manufacturability.
Be innovative, resourceful, and work with minimal direction.
Have excellent organization, problem solving, communication, and team leadership skills.
Have ability to multitask, prioritize their work and make data driven decisions.
Work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Education and Experience You’ll Bring
Mechanical, Chemical, Biomedical or any engineering or technical degree or equivalent experience required.
Minimum 5 years manufacturing engineering experience. Prior medical device manufacturing engineering experience is preferred, but not required.
Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
Demonstrated leadership capability in team settings.
Ability to lead and motivate peers, drive change and problem solve with creativity.
Ability to travel approximately 5%, including internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
Medical device experience preferred, but not required.
