Staff Engineer – Water Resources
Seniority Level: Associate. Employment Type: Full‑time. Job Function: Engineering and Design.
Rani Engineering, LLC is growing its Water Resources Team and is looking for a Staff Engineer who will focus on hydrologic and hydraulic (H/H) analysis, stormwater management, and water quality modeling for a variety of water resource projects. Passion for sustainable water solutions is a must.
Responsibilities
Perform H/H analysis using ArcGIS, HydroCAD, SWMM modeling, and Bentley ORD
Conduct stormwater and drainage system design using AutoCAD Civil 3D or Bentley ORD
Develop GIS-based spatial analyses for watershed modeling, floodplain mapping, and stormwater planning
Conduct water quality modeling using P8 or MIDS Calculator (preferred)
Assist in preparing design plans, calculations, and technical reports
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal stormwater regulations
Collaborate with project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies to support project delivery
Deliver work to ensure project budgets are met and tasks are delivered on schedule
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related engineering degree
0-3 years of experience in water resources engineering
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
Familiarity with H/H modeling for stormwater and drainage analysis through coursework or work experience
Basic coursework or experience using ArcGIS
Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
Proven strong communication skills and teamwork abilities
Ideal Additional Experience
Internship or co‑op experience
Proficiency in ArcGIS for spatial analysis and mapping
Expertise using HydroCAD and SWMM for H/H modeling of stormwater and drainage analysis
Familiarity with P8 or MIDS Calculator for water quality modeling is a plus
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or Bentley ORD for stormwater and drainage system design
