Position Summary Protos is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its team. The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Senior Accounting Manager and will be responsible for various functions in the Accounting Department. Our work environment is fast paced, positive and stresses results oriented internal growth.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Play a critical role in the monthly close, ensuring ownership over assigned areas
Prepare month end accrual entries
Reconcile and record intercompany journal entries
Maintain various schedules including prepaid expenses, fixed assets, etc.
Assist with the preparation of journal entries for general ledger reconciliation
Accounts payable, cash, and other account reconciliations
Ensure account reconciliations are prepared in a timely manner
Apply customer receipts and credits
Clear cash transactions
Handle special projects and hands-on ad hoc requests outside the day-to-day operations
Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
Qualifications & Experience
1-3 years of accounting experience
Associate degree in Accounting required, bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
Extensive knowledge of accruals, schedule creation and maintenance
Experience with Clients in the Service Industry (Guarding Industry a plus)
Excellent analytical skills
Working knowledge of general ledger systems (Sage Intacct or comparable program preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.). Must have expertise using Pivot Tables, Conditional Sum, V-Lookup functions, etc.
Solid communications skills (oral & written)
Ability to tackle tasks independently
