Overview
To provide effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of all FCCC/Civitek systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational policies. Responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical enterprise systems. Serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems. Recommends the redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications. Investigates and analyzes feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications. Identifies methods, solutions, and provides project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to the customers of the department.
Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day operations of FCCC host computer systems by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance, and repair.
Maintain records of system downtime and equipment inventory.
Apply revisions to host system firmware and software and work with vendors to assist support activities.
Develop new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts, and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.
Train technical staff on new software and hardware developed and/or acquired.
Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis.
Ensure high availability and acceptable performance of mission critical host computer resources.
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
Manage installation and/or upgrades of systems management, monitoring, and administrative tools and utilities.
Configure and add new services as necessary.
Verify integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes by monitoring daily system logs.
Manage daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to appropriate media and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
Develop procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature, and user abuse.
Perform regular security monitoring to identify possible intrusions and address concerns according to FCCC/Civitek security policy guidelines.
Research, suggest, and implement system changes, including operating system updates, firmware upgrades, security, networking, etc.
Repair and recover from hardware or software failures and coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
Engineer SA-related solutions for various projects and operational needs.
Plan and test disaster response and continuity for each FCCC/Civitek functional area.
Develop and maintain operational, configuration, and other documentation and procedures.
Provide Tier III support per request from various constituencies.
Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
Interpret and discuss information with others courteously and professionally.
Respond promptly when returning telephone calls and replying to written correspondence.
Provide high quality customer service to all internal and external customers.
Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules, and regulations and instructions.
Responsibilities require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
5 years of related experience.
Knowledge of Windows, Linux, Unix, VMware, and virtualized environments.
Experience with Windows, Unix/Linux, and Microsoft System Administration.
Understanding of virtualization concepts, tools, configuration, and clustering.
Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange (preferred).
Knowledge of Cloud technologies such as Azure and Office 365.
Understanding of computer security.
Understanding of networking concepts.
Detail oriented, able to research ideas, develop a plan, and see it through to completion.
Strong troubleshooting skills for computer hardware, software, networking, and connectivity.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work with computing systems, software, and peripheral equipment in a virtualized, Microsoft and UNIX/Linux operating environment.
RedHat OpenShift/Kubernetes Administration experience.
Skills
System Administrator, Windows, VMware, Windows Server, Active Directory, PowerShell, Cloud, Azure.
Experience with Patching, Firmware Upgrades, and Service Center issue resolution.
Coachable and collaborative team player.

Pay range: $38.00 – $42.00 per hour.
