Vice President, Originations – Opportunistic Credit
Base pay range:
$150,000.00/yr – $250,000.00/yr
Our client is a global credit and alternatives investment manager known for deploying flexible capital across complex public and private credit opportunities. They are expanding their Opportunistic Credit strategy and seek a Vice President to manage sponsor coverage and origination within the US private credit market. The VP will work closely with senior investment professionals to drive new deal flow, deepen sponsor relationships, and shape the platform’s coverage approach.
The Role
Support and develop sponsor relationships across the middle and upper-middle market to originate private credit investments.
Identify, structure, and execute transactions across a range of industries and capital structures.
Collaborate with investment teams through the full lifecycle of deals, from initial screening and diligence to closing and ongoing portfolio engagement.
Drive the tracking and organization of sponsor activity, helping to build an institutionalized coverage and CRM framework.
Conduct detailed financial analysis, prepare investment materials, and contribute to underwriting and approval processes.
Build market intelligence around refinancing, recapitalization, and liquidity opportunities.
Represent the firm externally with sponsors and intermediaries in a professional, credible, and commercial manner.
The Individual
8–12 years of experience in leveraged finance, private credit, or investment banking with exposure to sponsor‑backed transactions.
Existing relationships or strong network‑building ability within the private equity community.
Strong analytical, structuring, and negotiation skills with a focus on execution excellence.
Commercially minded and able to operate with initiative in a collaborative, fast‑moving team environment.
Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
Degree from a leading academic institution.
