Summary We have an opportunity for a

Contractor PCB Test Engineering Technician for up to 6 months

located at our San Jose facility. You will design test plans, hardware, and scripts to validate space‑grade hardware and ensure mission success in extreme environmental conditions. Projects will include high‑profile programs such as the human‑rated Orion program.

Responsibilities

Devise testing plans, methods, and equipment to ensure product reliability in conjunction with design and specifications.

Participate in engineering design review efforts.

Produce reports on each test activity and track test metrics.

Drive failure‑analysis efforts, including documentation, technical analysis, and customer interaction.

Plan and arrange labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices.

Provide test area and facility parameters for testing and specify tests to be performed.

Support multiple programs and technologies as needed.

Test all customer deliverable hardware, including special tests that cannot be performed in the test area.

Perform analysis, diagnostics, and preliminary evaluations of products.

Develop testing procedures and plans, including environmental, regression, dynamic, and scripted automation testing.

Monitor test process improvement through failure analysis, throughput analysis, and yield analysis, reporting to management periodically.

Mentor and coach early‑career engineers.

Travel as required.

Ideal Experience

High‑school diploma with 6+ years of experience.

Professional experience in aerospace test engineering or a related field.

Experience with basic scripting and automation.

Ability to support testing outside business hours, including overnight and weekends.

Desired Skills

Electrical testing experience and ability to debug digital design issues using lab tools.

Experience with environmental testing, bench supplies, scopes, and logic analyzers.

Resource management and scheduling experience.

PCB design (circuit design and board layout).

Knowledge of AS9100 industry standard practices.

Failure‑analysis experience, such as Ishikawa (fishbone), “5‑Why”, etc.

Knowledge of optics and/or optical testing highly desired.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles highly desired.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Strong leadership skills and a resiliently positive attitude.

Basic MS Word and MS Excel competency.

Salary Range $38.00 – $54.00 per hour (agency contractors may have higher rates)

Compensation Philosophy Redwire determines pay using local, national, and industry‑specific survey data. Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additional equity considerations apply for new hires.
