Summary

We have a current opportunity for a

Contractor PCB Test Engineering Technician for up to 6 months

located at our facility in San Jose, CA. You will design the test plans, hardware and scripts required to validate deliverable space-grade hardware. Ensuring mission success by validating our hardware will work as intended in the extreme environmental conditions of outer space after a turbulent launch assent. You will have the opportunity to work on projects of all sizes including such high-profile programs as the human-rated Orion program.

Responsibilities

Devises testing plan, methods, and equipment to assure reliability of product in conjunction with product design and specifications

Participates in engineering design review efforts

Produces reports on each test activity and tracks test metrics

Drive failure analysis efforts including all documentation, technical analysis, instruction, management briefing, and customer interaction

Plan and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices

Provide test area and facility with parameters for testing and specifies tests to be performed

Provide technical expertise and support across multiple programs and technologies as needed

Responsible for testing all customer deliverable hardware and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area

Perform analysis, diagnostics, and preliminary evaluations of products

Develop testing procedures and plans, including environmental testing, regression testing, dynamic testing, and scripted automation testing

Monitor for continual test process improvement through failure analysis, throughput analysis, yield analysis, and report to management periodically

Mentor and coach early career engineers

Some minimal travel required

Ideal Experience

High School diploma with 6+ years of experience.

Professional experience in aerospace test engineering or related field

Experience with basic scripting and automation

Ability to support testing outside of business hours including overnight and weekends on occasion

Desired Skills

Electrical testing experience. Ability to debug and deduce digital design issues with use of lab tools

Experience with environmental testing, such as bench supplies, scopes, and logic analyzers with no support from more senior engineers

Experience with resource management and scheduling

PCB design (circuit design and board layout)

Experience and understanding of AS9100 industry standard practices

Failure analysis experience such as Ishikawa (fishbone), "5-Why", etc.

Knowledge of optics and/or optical testing highly desired

Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles highly desired

Experienced with frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, and theories

Strong written and oral communication skills

Possess strong leadership skills and a resiliently positive attitude

Basic MS Word & MS Excel competency (advanced MS Office & Office 365 skills a plus)

Salary Range

$38.00 - $54.00/per hour (agency contractors may have higher rates)

determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.

Salaries will be based on the applicant's level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
