The Chemical Engineering Department The Chemical Engineering Department was founded in 1961, and it was initially an outgrowth of the university’s Department of Chemistry. Early faculty pioneered or substantially influenced the emerging field of chemical engineering in many vital areas, including catalysis and transport/fluid mechanics. More recently, the department has added bioengineering and soft-material science to its core areas of excellence and has made a growing commitment to technology development that complements its long-held strength in fundamental applied science and molecular engineering. Position Overview The Chemical Engineering Department at the School of Engineering is seeking a highly qualified professional to join our team as a
Student Affairs Coordinator .
The selected individual will report directly to the Director of Student and Academic Services, working under general supervision. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive administrative and operational support to faculty and students, focusing particularly on academic matters.
Primary Responsibilities Primary responsibilities will include assisting students with enrollment, supporting lecturers and course assistants, coordinating department colloquia, seminars, and events, managing billing, ensuring that graduation requirements are met, and providing support services for international students. The coordinator will serve as a crucial resource for information regarding administrative procedures related to student life, academic policies, and financial matters.
Additionally, the coordinator will facilitate connections between students and specialized support offices for any further assistance needed. The role will also involve addressing routine issues of limited complexity within their area of responsibility, using established guidelines, standards, and precedents for reference and development.
In This Role, You Will
Review documents and forms for completeness, track files for follow up and distribute for review.
Research and resolve routine issues, refer complex issues to other staff.
Input data, update electronic databases, web sites, literature, and associated materials. May collect, gather and validate data, prepare basic reports.
Coordinate logistics for outreach activities, meetings, and events.
Respond to routine inquiries from students, faculty, external constituents, and staff.
Serve as a subject matter resource to students and other departments.
Contribute to general office administration and process improvements.
May train and direct day to day activities of student and temporary workers.
Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience (Required)
Associates degree and one year of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Required)
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Customer service skills.
Basic office administration skills.
Ability to learn compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
Physical Requirements
Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
