We have an exciting opportunity for a
Project Controls Engineer
as part of our Transportation South division, to perform project controls duties under a staff augmentation task order contract with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) Joint Development Adjacent Construction (JDAC) team. The position will be responsible for providing administrative, financial, and technical support activities for various projects throughout the WMATA system. The Project Controls Engineer will also perform varied administrative office functions, maintain project records, contract documentation, and financial reports, as well as monitor labor expenditures and assist with cost control efforts. The Project Controls Engineer will work under the direction of the Project Manager(s).
Responsibilities
Maintains familiarity with the JDAC Adjacent Construction Project Manual (ACPM) and JDAC Procedures relative to assigned;
Updates and manages project‑related data in Procore, including direct input of project related information and uploading of relevant supporting documents;
Generates and analyzes bi‑weekly labor reports, collaborating with Project Managers to identify and address any unauthorized labor charges to maintain budget integrity;
Prepares monthly expenditure reports for assigned JDAC projects and complies with monthly balance reports for overall JDAC program tracking;
Coordinates with project teams and WMATA Accounting to facilitate invoice submissions, refund payments, and other financial transactions, ensuring timely cost estimates and financial forecasts, supporting effective budgeting and cost control efforts;
Assists JDAC Construction Engineers in developing cost estimates and financial forecasts, supporting budgeting and cost control efforts;
Serves as a financial resource for all JDAC project teams, providing accurate and timely financial data to support decision‑making and project oversight;
Submits daily logs in a timely manner through WMATA’s Procore system; and
Performs other project related duties as assigned by WMATA’s Task Manager.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field from an accredited College or University.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in Project Controls, preferably in a cost management role.
Demonstrated experience in a fast‑paced engineering environment;
Excellent verbal/written communication skills, and strong technical writing skills;
Proficiency in Microsoft 365®, Oracle PeopleSoft® and Procore.
Compensation Range $71,024.64 - $94,699.51
