Data Center Engineer – Level 4
We are seeking an experienced Level 4 Data Center Technician to join our IT operations team. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in GPU/server/network break‑fix, rack deployment, and cabling, as well as strong leadership and project coordination skills. Located in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, this role operates on a Day Shift.
Key Responsibilities
Deploy and install fully populated GPU/network racks, including rack movement, baying, leveling, grounding, hot‑air containment, and overhead cable‑tray setup.
Interpret BOMs to verify material completeness, rack and stack equipment, patch copper/fiber cables, label copper and fiber infrastructure (Cat5, Cat6, SM/MM/MPO), and handle optical modules (SFP, QSFP).
Scope and clean fiber connectors (SC, LC, MPO).
Diagnose and resolve hardware issues across servers, GPUs, and network components, replace faulty parts, manage vendor returns, update firmware, and configure IPs/login credentials.
Support network admins with cabling, optics, and server/switch configurations.
Perform Level 1–3 technician tasks, manage ITSM tickets, audit servers and consumables, document progress using MS Office and customer tracking tools, and ensure compliance with safety and data center standards.
Lead and coordinate build activities, review and validate build documentation, provide thought leadership, manage multiple concurrent projects under high‑pressure conditions, and communicate status updates to project managers.
Qualifications
10+ years of data center deployment and break‑fix experience.
Proven expertise in GPU/network rack deployment and Ethernet cabling (copper, fiber, routing, connectors).
Experience with optical modules and fiber cleaning.
Familiarity with DC power systems and equipment.
Effective team leadership and workload prioritization.
Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Understanding of telecom engineering designs for enterprise data centers.
Willingness to travel as needed.
Pay & Benefits Pay range: $42.00 / hr.
