Fiscal Director (Controller) Location: District Support Services Center, Maricopa Community Colleges, Phoenix, AZ

Salary Range:

$96,568 - $125,538 annually, DOE

Job Summary The Fiscal Director (Controller) oversees all financial operations of the Maricopa Community College Foundation, including accounts payable/receivable, grants accounting, scholarships, and general accounting. The role manages audits, tax filings (IRS 990, 1099), budgets, investments, and endowments, and provides financial reports to the Board of Directors while working closely with all ten colleges to ensure fiscal integrity and effective stewardship.

Essential Functions Allocated by time:

25% Treasury management: cash flow, liquidity planning, debt and investment strategy.

25% Leadership: supervise, hire, train fiscal staff, coordinate deadlines, develop procedures, implement process improvements, drive performance metrics, lead change initiatives.

20% Journal entries and reconciliations: bank, accounts payable, scholarships, investments.

15% Audit and compliance: coordinate MCCF annual audit, prepare Form 990, 1099 filings.

10% Board finance committee: attend meetings, prepare financial reports, collaborate with executive leadership to monitor strategic goals.

5% Fiscal integrity: design, test, and implement financial controls and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business or public administration from a regionally accredited institution and seven years of progressively responsible experience in public finance, accounting, banking, financial analysis, or a related field, including two years of management and supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience as a fiscal manager in higher education or non‑profit.

Experience in fund or project cost accounting and reconciliation.

Experience coordinating fiscal audits and IRS 990s.

Experience with Blackbaud or similar enterprise systems.

CPA, CMA, or master’s in accounting/finance.
