The role assists in performing surveillance for respiratory-associated hospitalizations (COVID‑19, influenza, and RSV). The position works closely with respiratory disease epidemiologists, project/unit managers, and the Principal Investigator to prioritize data collection and ensure data quality. What you will be doing
Conduct enhanced case surveillance for COVID‑19, RSV, and influenza‑associated hospitalizations by reviewing medical records and collecting demographic, clinical, treatment, vaccination, and laboratory information. Abstract medical information from electronic medical records according to specific instructions. Enter data into central databases and track reported cases and completion of record reviews. Participate in data cleaning, request copies of medical records directly from hospitals when warranted. Help answer fellow abstractor’s questions and validate data accuracy. Identify data quality issues and assist in developing solutions. Experience Only
Four (4) years of experience in public health or communicable disease control, surveillance, data management, or medical record abstractionor. Education and Experience
A combination of related education in public health, health education, biology, statistics, science, epidemiology, biostatistics or a closely‑related field and/or experience equal to four (4) years. Preferred Qualifications
Relevant state of Colorado work experience. Experience in collecting and entering data. Experience abstracting information from electronic medical records. Experience navigating a variety of electronic medical record platforms. Experience working in relational databases such as REDCap, CEDrs or EPI TRAX. Conditions of Employment
Pre‑employment background check. Travel for training, conferences or hospitals. Availability in emergency situations and during Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP). How to Apply
