Job Overview The Accounting Manager oversees the daily operations of the Accounting department for MSRC, ensuring compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), DCAA audit requirements, and DFARS compliance while promoting corporate values and shaping a positive culture.
Responsibilities
Manage and oversee daily operations of the Accounting team, including A/P, A/R, payroll, billing, and general ledger.
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Manage accounting system (Unanet) and ensure accurate project accounting and timekeeping.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with Contracts, Program Control, HR, and Operations to ensure consistent financial practices.
Manage and monitor indirect rate structures, allocations, and cost pools to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Support external and internal audits, including DCAA and independent financial audits.
Contribute to continuous process improvements that strengthen internal controls, enhance efficiency, and ensure full compliance across entities.
Mentor and supervise Accounting staff.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or Master’s degree preferred.
Required Skills
7+ years’ experience in Accounting and Program Control or proven experience conducting cost and accounting analysis on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
2+ years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role preferred.
Experience with CPFF, FFP, and T&M projects.
Knowledge of ERP systems, Wide Area Workflow, and Exostar.
Proficient with MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Advanced knowledge in MS Excel.
Strong attention to detail; strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work well independently or in a team environment.
Knowledge of AMCOM Express or similar IDIQ contract requirements.
Knowledge of GAAP and DCAA standards strongly preferred.
