Senior Network Engineer/Virtualization Specialist

Responsibilities
Serve as a Network Engineer - Virtualization Specialist supporting network build out and deployments to the C2BMC Test
Use SDDC Manager to patch, upgrade and provide overall system maintenance
Configure distributed stateful firewalling, NAT, load balancing and micro segmentation using NSX
Design, install, upgrade and migrate storage using VMware vSAN
Migrate virtual machines and workloads from deprecated versions of vSphere to VMware Cloud
Work on complex assignments and perform a wide range of VMware system administration activities with little to no direct supervision
Provide root‑cause analysis for recurring or critical problems
Work closely with a team of system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity administrators to maintain a high‑quality test environment for the Government customer
Perform vulnerability remediation and mitigations to reduce cybersecurity risks and ensure DoD compliance
Conduct daily system monitoring, system backup and restoral, and application upgrades to ensure optimal and continuous system operations
Document necessary system changes and actions in appropriate systems of record to ensure historical data is captured per customer and mission requirements
Advise Government customer on system status, optimization and improvement efforts in accordance with program objectives and design baselines as needed
Use REMEDY ticketing system to report, track and document problem and resolution life‑cycle actions on faulty systems
Work collaboratively in a team environment with other network engineers as well as independently on large field projects
Qualifications Education and Training
Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering or science discipline preferred
Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (ex: Security+) required
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA) certification preferred
VMware Certified Technical Associate – Data Center Virtualization (VCTA), VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP‑DCV), VCAP Design, VCAP Deploy or VCDX‑DCV certification preferred
Professional Experience
10+ years of general full‑time work experience
7+ years of directly related experience
+ years of experience working in a management or leadership role
Experience in Internet Protocols (e.g. DNS, HTTP, SMTP, SSL), firewall configuration and troubleshooting required
Previous experience writing and presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio drawing tools required
Deep understanding of Foundational VCF Infrastructure including Virtualization (vSphere), Networking (NSX) and Storage (vSAN) required
Fundamental understanding of how traffic flows through logical routers with the ability to implement these concepts in an NSX environment required
Experience creating and configuring virtual distributed switches required
Preferred Experience
PIM, L2 and L3 multicast and type I encryption devices
VXLAN, Juniper Apstra, VMware Aria and RHEL Ansible
Python or Powershell programming and scripting
Security Requirements
Must be a US citizen
Candidate must be in possession of a minimum DoD issued Secret Clearance
Physical Requirements
Able to occasionally reach with hands and arms
Prolonged periods of computer screen use, while sitting or standing at a desk
Adhere to safety protocols when in work areas requiring use of PPE (e.g. eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, steel‑toed shoes, etc.)
Able to safely lift and carry up to 20 pounds at a time
