The University of Arizona Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics (UArizona) and the University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) seek a dynamic leader for a fiscal (12-month) position as a tenure-eligible or tenured Assistant or Associate Professor of Epidemiology with the potential for serving as Deputy Director of the Skin Cancer Institute (https://azskincancerinstitute.org).
We are seeking candidates with a demonstrated ability to contribute to original, creative, and multidisciplinary research in cancer epidemiology and cancer prevention. A successful candidate's research should complement current areas of strengths in the Epidemiology Program and UACC. The successful candidate is expected to develop and/or teach the equivalent of 2-3 courses per year, including graduate-level courses and/or undergraduate courses, mentor graduate students, and contribute to the research and service missions of the college. Experience in community-based studies and skin cancer epidemiology are relevant for also serving with the Skin Cancer Institute.
The MEZCOPH is currently the only nationally accredited college of public health in the state of Arizona. The College and University have numerous innovative teaching, research, and service programs and is a valued partner in community-based research projects addressing health issues relevant to border communities and indigenous populations. The College is also committed to increasing the various backgrounds of its faculty to align more with the student body.
The University of Arizona Cancer Center, established in 1978 https://cancercenter.arizona.edu ) is one of 72 NCI-Designated Cancer Centers and one of 56 Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the nation and the only Comprehensive Cancer Center headquartered in and serving Arizona. The Skin Cancer Institute is part of UACC and seeks to translate science into practice and implement strong outreach and educational programs to improve diagnosis and outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities
Develop a strong externally-funded and peer-reviewed research program in cancer epidemiology and cancer prevention and control. Develop and teach 2-3 epidemiology courses per year. Supervise Masters and Doctoral students in the epidemiology program. Participate in intramural, extramural and outreach service. Develop collaborations with researchers in other departments and colleges across the University of Arizona. Lead the outreach and education cores of the Skin Cancer Institute within the UACC.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD or other doctoral degree in epidemiology or strongly related field. Record of high-quality scientific productivity (as appropriate with rank). Track record of securing peer-reviewed funding (as appropriate with rank). Evidence of ability to conduct research in multi-disciplinary and collaborative teams. Teaching experience in a University classroom environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Evidence of experience working with a multidisciplinary team that includes community interventions and outreach. Past record of scientific productivity in skin cancer research.
