What You’ll Do

The Director of Individual Giving leads all efforts to engage, cultivate, and retain individual donors in support of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis. This role is distinct from corporate, foundation, and faith partnerships — focusing exclusively on individual annual donors, including leadership-level givers, recurring supporters, and mid-level prospects for major gifts. The Director will oversee the full annual giving program — designing data-driven campaigns, donor journeys, and stewardship experiences that deepen personal connections to Habitat’s mission and drive sustainable year-over-year growth in individual giving revenue. Reports to and works closely with the President/CEO who serves as the Chief Fundraising Strategist for Memphis Habitat. Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Lead the design and execution of a comprehensive individual giving strategy, including major and planned gifts and donor cultivation/stewardship to meet and exceed organizational revenue goals. Build and manage a major donor prospect list, and track progress via a revenue dashboard toward revenue goals. Create donor develop strategies that support CEO and Board personalized involvement in the fundraising process. Partner/support the community engagement team to create signature events and volunteer recognition/appreciation events. Partner with the communications team to develop donor-centric messaging, campaigns, appeals, collateral, digital content, newsletters, and impact reports. Partner with the brand team to ensure consistent branding and mission alignment across all development channels. Collaborate with programs and research teams to gather data, impact stories and outcomes to support compelling reports and proposals. Ensure timely thank‑you letters, personalized follow‑ups, and stewardship touchpoints. Plan donor appreciation events, home tours, and “Lunch & Learn” sessions highlighting Habitat’s mission and impact. Maintain consistent donor journeys that connect each gift to tangible results (e.g., “Every $125 builds one square foot of a Habitat home.”). Work with the Database/CRM Manager to ensure data integrity, segmentation, and donor tracking. Analyze giving trends, retention rates, and campaign results to inform strategy. Report regularly on progress toward revenue goals, new donor acquisition, and lifetime value metrics. Use the CRM to manage moves, communications, and reporting. Supervise the annual giving manager and donor database manager. Continue to develop knowledge of fundraising best practices through membership in the Association of Fundraising Professionals and attendance at professional development events and training as possible. What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration or related field required; Master’s Degree in organizational leadership, philanthropy, business or public policy/administration preferred. CFRE a plus. Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, with a proven track record in major gift cultivation and solicitation, annual giving and donor communications. Highly developed interpersonal skills, presentation skills and public speaking skills; ability to meet and interact with people with ease. Strong persuasive writing and storytelling skills, particularly for grant proposals, donor appeals and impact narratives. Strong organizational skills, well disciplined, able to work under the pressure of multiple, concurrent priorities and meet deadlines. Knowledge of marketing strategies and techniques. Knowledge of long‑range planning process. Ability to inspire a team for maximum results. Physical Requirements

The job operates in an administrative office environment with routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
