Phlebotomy Technician III – CooperSurgical

We are seeking a highly skilled Phlebotomy Technician III to work within our California Cryobank Reproductive Tissue Recovery Laboratory, providing exceptional phlebotomy services and laboratory support.
Job Summary
Performs phlebotomy, manages the donor desk, and supports laboratory operations at Cooper’s California Cryobank Reproductive Tissue Recovery Laboratory. This position focuses on delivering excellent phlebotomy services to our clients while maintaining laboratory quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Conducts phlebotomy duties, tracking blood and urine specimen testing intervals and ensuring timely specimen collection and submission.
- Prepares blood and urine specimens for transport to reference laboratories, prints finalized results, and tracks overdue results while maintaining phlebotomy supplies.
- Manages donor desk duties, checking in donors, verifying specimen cup labels, and ensuring proper donor identification.
- Coordinates with the Laboratory Manager or Supervisor to fulfill additional laboratory needs, including scanning and filing donor worksheets and manifests.
- Performs laboratory duties such as media aliquoting, staining morphology slides, post-thaw analysis, quality control checks, routine cleaning of laboratory equipment, supply maintenance, and cryogenic/biorepository tasks including tank checks, inventory transfer movements, and shipping frozen biologic samples.
- Complies with regulatory, quality assurance, and safety procedures; participates in proficiency and competency assessments; reviews and maintains standard operating procedures.
- Completes additional duties and projects as required.
Qualifications
- Phlebotomy certificate required; GED or High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in science preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of phlebotomy experience and previous laboratory experience.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory and medical terminology; excellent customer service and attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; high level of interpersonal skills.
- Phlebotomy certificate; ability to travel (within local area).
- Familiarity with laboratory and medical terminology and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Experience & Education
- Phlebotomy Certificate – required.
- GED or High School Diploma – required; Bachelor’s degree in science – preferred.
- 4+ years of phlebotomy experience and laboratory experience – required.
