About the Role
As the Vendor Manager for Uber AI Solutions, you'll be instrumental in shaping the future of our AI-driven products and services. You'll lead the strategic sourcing and management of our third-party vendors, ensuring we partner with best-in-class providers to support our innovation and growth. This is a high-impact role that requires a blend of strategic thinking, negotiation prowess, and a deep understanding of the AI ecosystem.
What You'll Do
Strategic Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and onboard strategic vendors for helping recruit the right supply/ICs for key AI initiatives, including data annotation, model training, and specialized computational resources.
Negotiation & Contracting: Lead complex negotiations to secure favorable terms, pricing, and service level agreements (SLAs) that align with our business objectives and budget constraints.
Performance Management: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure vendors meet or exceed contractual obligations and deliver high-quality services.
Relationship Management: Cultivate strong, long-term relationships with key vendor partners, acting as the primary point of contact for all commercial and operational matters.
Market Analysis: Stay abreast of market trends, emerging technologies, and new players in the AI vendor landscape to proactively identify opportunities and risks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, legal, finance, and product teams to define vendor requirements, manage dependencies, and ensure seamless integration of vendor solutions.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Technology, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in vendor management, strategic sourcing, or procurement, preferably within the technology or AI sector.
Proven track record of successfully negotiating and managing complex contracts and vendor relationships.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization and with external partners.
Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AI/ML-specific vendors (e.g., data labeling platforms, GPU providers, synthetic data providers).
MBA or Master's degree in a relevant field.
Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Familiarity with legal and compliance considerations in technology contracts.
