Lead Instrumentation Coordinator works to prepare, sterilize, install, assemble, and clean all clinic or healthcare equipment required for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures. The Lead Instrumentation Coordinator ensures equipment, instruments, and supplies can be reused safely to prevent infections. This position is responsible for tray movement logistics, standardizing instrument trays across the Enterprise, and monitoring the OR schedule to ensure instrumentation is processed and delivered to the OR without delay. The role will utilize 24/7 service in multiple reprocessing sites across the Health System, including Ross Heart Hospital, University Hospital, James Cancer Hospital, Same Day Surgery, University Hospital East, and all Ambulatory sites. Provide clinical orientation for CCS Technicians and Instrumentation Coordinators in coordination with the CSS Educator. Educate clinical standards and policy and procedure and provide feedback as necessary.

Responsibilities

Prepare, sterilize, install, assemble, and clean all clinic or healthcare equipment required for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures.

Ensure all equipment, instruments, and supplies can be reused safely to prevent infections.

Serve as clinical liaison between the Operating Rooms and the CSS offsite location to track and allocate sterilized instrumentation across the Enterprise.

Manage tray movement logistics and standardize instrument trays across the Enterprise.

Monitor the OR schedule to ensure instrumentation is processed and delivered to the OR without delay.

Utilize 24/7 service in multiple reprocessing sites across the Health System.

Provide clinical orientation for CCS Technicians and Instrumentation Coordinators in coordination with the CSS Educator.

Educate clinical standards and policy and procedure and provide feedback as necessary.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED.

Associate degree in a relevant field preferred.

CERTIFIED® Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) required upon hire or within 6 months.

4 years of relevant experience required; 6+ years preferred.

Certification or vocational training may be required.
