Overview
Sr. Quality Engineer, Pack, Powertrain role at Tesla. Tesla's HV Battery Operations in Sparks, NV is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to support battery and electronics production. You’ll ensure the quality of parts, processes, and the final product, maintaining high-quality standards for the HV Battery System used in Model 3 and Y. The ideal candidate is a problem solver, data-driven, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. You\'ll assess risks, develop quality controls, and implement prevention methods to meet production goals while delivering a safe, reliable product that supports Tesla’s mission of sustainable energy. What You'll Do
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, service and suppliers across a wide range of issues; strong interpersonal and communication skills are required to establish effective working relationships within Tesla and externally Develop manufacturing requirements, quality standards, and product quality plans to ensure products meet customer expectations Deploy manufacturing-level requirements to subsystems, assemblies & components to emphasize design and customer needs Identify critical requirements to ensure proper supplier and production focus on key needs Lead development of FMEAs (Design & Process) for development teams to identify and address critical risks Support development of manufacturing equipment, controls, and test plans to address FMEA risks; participate in design reviews to assure product subsystem quality, manufacturability, reliability, etc. Assist development with statistical tolerancing, Monte Carlo analysis, and other methods to investigate effects of part and process variability on system performance Support process capability analyses to assess the ability of suppliers and production processes to meet defined specifications and quality standards Design effective experiments through DOE or other methods to support design teams in investigating alternatives or in design validation testing Manage and facilitate the root cause and corrective actions system through tracking and validation of issues and support in root cause analysis using lean methodologies, hypothesis testing, and design of experiments Contribute to a quality culture that prevents defects and drives continuous improvement What You'll Bring
Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience Six Sigma certification is preferred A minimum of 3+ years of experience Specific training and demonstrated success in applying design for quality and problem-solving methodologies, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, etc. Strong background and demonstrated success applying statistical methods Minitab, JMP or other statistical software capabilities are preferred Data mining and database experience (e.g., MySQL) Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills Benefits
