Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Systems Architecture Engineering Manager 2 positioned in Roy, UT. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and relationship-building, effective communication, and problem-solving skills, balancing innovative approaches with traditional business practices. This leadership role involves daily executive interactions, strategic thinking, and turning vision into reality in a fast-paced environment with diverse, cross-functional work across all levels of the organization. What You’ll Get To Do
Lead IFC Architecture efforts within the DevStar Directorate under the Integrated Functional Capabilities (IFC) team. Coordinate with other IPTs and define Features/scope within each IFC to support major milestone events. Support evolution of the IFC Architecture across multiple IFCs, including supporting the IFC Strategic Plan development, defining System and Incremental Features, creating diagrams in the IFC Architecture Model, and supporting execution and verification efforts. Guide the development of an IFC until certification that the integrated set of products meets functional and performance requirements and is ready for release as identified in the IFC system certificate package. Grow technical breadth in Systems Engineering across a broad portfolio of mission threads, evolving traditional Systems Engineering rigor into lean agile, model-based frameworks. The role consists of 80% technical responsibilities and 20% Functional Manager responsibilities, with potential CAM and Risk Management duties. Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities to establish high-quality DevOps/Development processes. Collaborate with peers and management on resource planning, staffing, and hiring activities, and support recruitment including requisition creation, interviews, and offers. Set and promote high engineering standards; foster accountability aligned with Northrop Grumman values. Partner with engineering and program management to balance and efficiently assign resources to meet mission priorities; coach and develop team members; and drive performance and career growth. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 6 years of related experience. 1 year of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule. 2 years of ICBM experience. 2 years of experience using MBSE (Cameo or Rhapsody). U.S. Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance (investigation within last 6 years) and ability to obtain/maintain SAP approval. Experience with DOORS. Nice To Have
Master’s Degree in STEM. Experience leading teams in functional, programmatic, and/or technical capacities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills. Experience with Integrated Functional Capability Process, DoD programs, Agile methodologies, and Sentinel program familiarity. Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) or Work Package Lead (WPL); knowledge of Basis of Estimates (BOEs) and Risk/Opportunity Management.
