The Opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Support Specialist (SSS) to join our Technical Operations team in Mentor, Ohio.

This is a high-level technical role responsible for managing infrastructure projects, providing escalated support, and serving as a senior technical resource for the NOC (Network Operations Center) team. The ideal candidate has strong leadership, advanced troubleshooting skills, and thrives in a fast-paced MSP environment supporting diverse SMB clients.

You’ll work directly with our team to ensure smooth project delivery, consistent documentation, and top-tier client satisfaction—all while modeling GTG’s culture of Respect and Expect: Clarity. Consistency. Accountability.

Important: This position is on‑site only at our Mentor, Ohio office. Candidates must be located in Northeast Ohio. Remote applicants will not be considered.

What You’ll Do

Lead and deliver client infrastructure and network projects (≤300 endpoints).

Provide end‑to‑end project management — from design and scheduling through completion.

Serve as the top‑tier escalation point for complex technical issues.

Manage and support Microsoft 365, Azure AD, hybrid Exchange, and Microsoft Server environments (2003–2022).

Configure LAN/WAN/VPN/DNS routing, firewalls, and upper‑level Internet connectivity.

Implement and maintain virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V, Proxmox).

Automate processes through scripting (PowerShell, Batch, VB) and RMM tools.

Configure and support SonicWall, Cisco, and Netgear firewalls, Datto, and backup systems.

Oversee Microsoft 365 migrations, Intune deployments, and endpoint management.

Act as a mentor to network operations center technicians and collaborate on documentation quality and procedural improvements.

What We’re Looking For 5+ years of hands‑on IT experience supporting SMB environments.

Strong background in:

Microsoft Server (2003–2022), Exchange (2003–2019), and SQL (2005–2017).

Microsoft 365, Azure, Azure AD, Intune, and hybrid cloud deployments.

LAN/WAN/NAT/VPN/DNS routing and Internet connectivity.

VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper‑V, and Proxmox.

Scripting (PowerShell, Batch, VB) for automation and maintenance.

Experience with ConnectWise Manage, Automate (LabTech), and Nilear.

Familiarity with SonicWall, Cisco, WatchGuard, Netgear, and Datto environments.

Knowledge of backup, antivirus, and endpoint security tools (VIPRE, Webroot, SentinelOne).

Excellent communication, documentation, and project management skills.

Strong troubleshooting, multitasking, and communication skills.

Preferred Certifications

Microsoft Certified (Azure or M365), Network+, Security+, VMware, or SonicWall.
