Overview
The Senior Manager, Distribution Strategic Sourcing role is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that align with the goals of the Distribution portfolio and broader enterprise objectives. This position leads strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier governance to drive performance, cost savings, sustainability, and supplier diversity. The role works closely with internal stakeholders to ensure sourcing activities meet operational needs while identifying opportunities for process improvements, standardization, and increased value. This is a hybrid role with remote work and Oakland-based requirements depending on business needs. Department: Procurement; Work Type: Hybrid; Location: Oakland, CA. The salary range and incentive information are provided for local context and may be adjusted based on internal equity, skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors. This position is eligible to participate in discretionary incentive compensation programs. Job Responsibilities
Build and support a high-performance team responsible for developing strategic portfolio and category plans to generate cost savings, deliver service excellence, optimize diversity spending and total cost of ownership for multiple portfolios across multiple lines of business. Ensure governance of the contract approval process from contract creation through contract award. Oversee contract spend across multiple spend categories in multiple lines of business. Develop short and long-term strategies for all spend categories within the portfolio for multiple lines of business. Lead complex cross-functional teams in the execution of strategic sourcing initiatives. Manage spend analysis, needs assessment, benchmarking and business case development. Lead development and execution of negotiation strategies. Approve purchase orders and contracts from $500,000 to $10 million. Monitor and maximize customer satisfaction using standardized client service level agreements. Manage continuous improvement-based relationships that deliver mutually beneficial results for the company and its suppliers. Establish service level agreements to hold suppliers accountable for performance. Direct reports include multiple Portfolio Managers, Procurement Managers and Category Leads; responsible for all sourcing activity for the assigned areas of the business. Develop work processes and procedures aligning to organizational requirements. Background Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required (one year of experience for every year of college) 8 years of total sourcing or related industry experience Desired MBA or equivalent advanced degree Six Sigma, CPSM or other related certification SAP/SRM proficiency desired Strategic Sourcing experience, Project Management experience, Utility industry experience Minimum 8 years of supervisor experience Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills required Ability to lead cross-functional teams is required Demonstrated leadership and management skills Ability to identify and resolve problems and implementation barriers required Seniority level
