Actalent Job Title: Automation Engineer | Onsite | New Albany, IN (Northwest Louisville, KY) Overview

Lead the development of control systems for automated equipment, owning all phases of controls development on assigned projects from functional requirements and architecture through programming, power-up, and commissioning. Collaborate with mechanical and process engineering teams to define and document control system functional requirements, specifying electrical, pneumatic, thermal, and motion control components based on system requirements. Responsibilities

Oversee creation and revision of electrical schematics. Design and develop control systems software, including programming PLCs, HMI/SCADA platforms, motion controllers, and servo drives. Execute system startup, debug, tuning, and machine qualification for new or upgraded automation systems. Provide troubleshooting and support for existing production machinery and control systems. Manage technical resources and coordinate timelines for controls-related project activities. Implement control system software changes to support upgrades, process improvements, or safety initiatives. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of software templates and standards for control system functionality, structure, and documentation. Ensure systems are designed with safety, sustainability, and long-term performance in mind, in compliance with standards such as NFPA 79, UL508A, and ISO 3849-1. Essential Skills

PLC programming Controls engineering Electrical schematic design Experience with servos, motion controllers, and motors Proficiency in Java, C#, and C++ Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Experience in manufacturing or custom equipment controls engineering Experience with PLC/HMI programming Proficiency in using 3D design software, software development tools, database systems, or scripting languages Work Environment

Work onsite Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility to start earlier from 7 AM to 4 PM if needed. No overtime is required. There may be occasional travel for a few weeks throughout the year for commissioning. The role involves working both on the floor and at a desk, closely collaborating with automation designers, machine builders, product designers, and other team members. Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of New Albany, Indiana. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90,000 - $130,000/yr.
