The Electrical Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of control systems for advanced manufacturing equipment. This includes oversight of all controls-related aspects of automation projects—from initial scoping to detailed electrical design, software development, commissioning, and long-term support. The Controls Engineer is expected to deliver well-engineered, standards-compliant control systems that are reliable, sustainable, and scalable. Essential Skills

PLC programming (Allen Bradley preferred) HMI/SCADA Platforms Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C#, and C++ 5 + years of work experience within Software and Automation. Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred) Programming experience (Ignition and/or Red Lion preferred). Experience using software development tools, database systems, or scripting languages Responsibilities

Specify electrical, pneumatic, thermal, and motion control components based on system requirements. Design and develop control systems software, including programming PLCs, HMI/SCADA platforms, Motion Controllers, and servo drives. Execute system startup, debug, tuning, and machine qualification for new or upgraded automation systems. Provide troubleshooting and support for existing production machinery and control systems. Manage technical resources and coordinate timelines for controls-related project activities. Implement control system software changes to support upgrades, process improvements, or safety initiatives. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of software templates and standards for control system functionality, structure, and documentation. Ensure systems are designed with safety, sustainability, and long-term performance in compliance with standards such as NFPA 79, UL508A, and ISO 3849-1. Work Environment

The position is based on-site in New Albany, IN from Monday to Friday, with a standard work schedule of 8 AM to 5 PM, and flexibility to start earlier if needed to get off earlier. There is NO overtime. The role may involve occasional travel for a few weeks each year for commissioning purposes. Work involves both floor and desk activities, collaborating closely with automation designers, machine builders, product designers, and others. The pay range for this position is $90,000.00 - $130,000.00/yr.
