Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing and guiding civil engineering design and construction for a wide range of industrial projects for Messer, including large-scale air separation plants, liquid CO2 plants, cylinder filling plants, and associated infrastructure.
This role will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that civil works meet all technical, regulatory, and safety requirements while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
This role will be key to working with Messer's external design firms to develop cost-effective solutions for the civil portion of Messer's investments and driving competitive improvement.

Principal Responsibilities:
Lead and own all civil engineering design for major capital projects, from proposal to construction and handover. Manage design efforts for complex industrial plants and civil works.
Coordinate with construction teams to resolve RFIs, NCRs, and provide support as needed.
Provide technical expertise in civil structures design, ensuring compliance with local regulations and interfacing with proposal teams for preliminary design and cost estimates.
Identify civil engineering risks and develop mitigation strategies, ensuring safety and environmental compliance.
Review bids and schedules for civil scopes, proactively addressing potential delays or cost issues.
Serve as a technical resource within Messer Americas.
Develop Messer Civil Engineering standards and procedures.
Represent Messer on professional standard committees as needed.
Support third-party engineering reviews of designs, calculations, and procedures.
Required Skills:
Proficiency in engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and regulation compliance.
Familiarity with laser scan software, Tekla or SDS-2 detailing software, and CAD platforms.
Strong technical writing skills and experience with design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.
Deep knowledge of geotechnical surveys, soil classification, and foundation design.
Ability to advise on site codes and regulations, including load considerations.
Experience reviewing concrete foundation designs and structural steel drawings per relevant standards.
Ability to oversee civil construction activities onsite.
Professional Engineering (P.E.) license.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or related field.
7-15 years of relevant experience in industrial civil and structural design.
Preferred Qualifications:
MBA preferred.
Experience with industrial gases, cryogenics, air separation, and chemical plants is a plus.
