Job Summary:

Responsible for overseeing and guiding civil engineering design and construction for a wide range of industrial projects for Messer, including large-scale air separation plants, liquid CO2 plants, cylinder filling plants, and associated infrastructure. This role will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that civil works meet all technical, regulatory, and safety requirements while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. This role will be key to working with Messer's external design firms to develop cost-effective solutions for the civil portion of Messer's investments and driving competitive improvement. Lead and own all civil engineering design for Messer's major capital projects, from proposal to construction and handover. Manage design efforts for complex industrial plants and infrastructure. Coordinate with construction personnel to resolve RFIs, NCRs, and provide support as needed. Provide technical expertise in civil structures, including foundations, roads, drainage, and site development, ensuring compliance with local regulations. Interface with proposals to generate preliminary designs and cost estimates. Identify civil engineering risks and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure safety and environmental compliance in all designs and activities. Review civil bids and schedules, ensuring scope accuracy and addressing potential delays or cost overruns proactively. Serve as a technical resource for other departments within Messer Americas. Develop Messer Civil Engineering standards and procedures. Represent Messer on professional standard committees as needed. Coordinate with third-party engineering organizations for design reviews, calculations, and specifications. Required Skills:

Proficiency in technical computations, understanding plans, specifications, and regulations. Familiarity with laser scan software (LFM viewer, Quantapoint), Tekla, SDS-2, and CAD platforms. Skilled in technical writing, office software, and discipline-specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS). Deep knowledge of geotechnical surveys, soil classification, and foundation design. Ability to advise on site codes, regulations, and load considerations (seismic, wind, snow, ice) per IBC and ASCE standards. Experience reviewing concrete foundation packages, structural steel drawings, and environmental assessments per relevant codes (ACI 318, AISC 360, AWS D1.1). Capability to oversee civil onsite work during construction. Professional Engineering (P.E.) license. Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. 7-15 years of relevant experience in foundation, civil, and structural design for industrial facilities. Preferred Qualifications:

MBA. Experience with industrial gases, cryogenic systems, air separation, and chemical plants is a plus. About Messer:
