Overview
Position Overview: As a Senior Fixed Equipment Engineer, you will serve as a subject matter expert for pressure vessels, tanks, piping, and other stationary mechanical systems. You will lead efforts to ensure asset integrity, mechanical reliability, and regulatory compliance through inspection planning, failure investigation, and engineering support for turnarounds and projects. This role is key in driving continuous improvement, supporting Management of Change (MOC), and enhancing long-term equipment performance across refinery operations. Responsibilities
Provide fixed equipment engineering expertise in support of expense and small capital projects. Lead engineering evaluations and technical problem-solving for reactive maintenance and unplanned events. Drive development and execution of inspection programs to ensure asset mechanical integrity and compliance. Champion Management of Change (MOC) processes, guiding multidisciplinary teams through mechanical system modifications. Serve as technical lead for health, safety, environmental, and reliability investigations related to fixed equipment. Support turnaround planning and execution, ensuring timely engineering input, scope development, and emergent issue resolution. Ensure compliance with industry codes (e.g., API, ASME) and regulatory requirements through sound engineering judgment. Prepare and deliver technical reports, inspection summaries, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders. Evaluate performance of third-party inspection, engineering, and construction contractors. Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement and process optimization related to fixed equipment. Qualifications
Experience and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 10+ years of experience in fixed equipment engineering within a refinery, petrochemical, or related industry. Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (e.g., API 510/570/653, ASME Section VIII and B31.3). Proven experience leading equipment troubleshooting, inspections, and failure analysis. Proficient in the use of inspection data, risk assessments, and integrity management practices. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to lead structured investigations and drive resolution of complex issues. Preferred Education and Experience: API certifications (510, 570, or 653) and/or NDE Level II/III credentials. Experience supporting turnarounds and major maintenance events. Working knowledge of CMMS systems such as SAP. Familiarity with RBI (Risk-Based Inspection) methodology and tools. Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Demonstrated success driving continuous improvement initiatives. Additional Information
