Title: Graduate Engineer – Water Resources
Division: Public Infrastructure
Summary: We currently have an opening on the North Texas Water Resources team for a Graduate Engineer. The selected candidate will work from either our Fort Worth, Dallas, or McKinney offices. The Water Resources group performs drainage and floodplain analyses, drainage design, and review services to municipal clients in and around the DFW metroplex. Our team also collaborates internally with LJA project managers to provide these services for land development, transportation, and planning and landscape architecture projects.
Responsibilities:
Understand basic hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) principles and apply them using hydrologic and hydraulic model applications.
Assist in conducting H&H studies supporting Land Development and municipal projects.
Review project requirements and prepare models for analysis.
Perform hydraulic calculations and guide technical support or drafting personnel.
Investigate variables in assignments; seek supervisory assistance for unusual problems.
Coordinate with internal clients to obtain necessary data.
Make basic decisions on conceptual project solutions.
Communicate effectively with internal team members.
Contribute to project scope and budget discussions with the Project Manager.
Assist in preparing presentation materials for clients.
Work effectively with team members, Project Managers, and supervisors.
Follow directions and work autonomously when executing tasks.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
Master's degree is a plus.
Certified Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is required.
Experience:
Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, detention design, FEMA LOMC, and Floodplain Fill Mitigation.
Proficiency in HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HY-8, Flow Master.
Experience with GeoHECRAS, GeoHECHMS, CADD, ArcGIS is a plus.
Experience with advanced dynamic H&H modeling platforms (XPSWMM, InfoWorks ICM, ICPR4, unsteady flow, 2D HEC-RAS) is a plus.
Experience using Artificial Intelligence (AI) for problem solving or workflow enhancement is a plus.
Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships.
