Electrical Engineer

Amentum . The position is for the Spent Fuel Handling Project at the Naval Reactors Facility, Idaho National Lab, performing electrical engineering design functions as part of onsite construction support for Title 3 activities. Responsibilities include dispositioning NCRs, assessing existing designs, responding to RFIs, and issuing Design Change Notices (DCNs) that require a PE license in Idaho or the ability to obtain within six months. Duties also include coordination with Quality on inspections and supporting the development of scopes of work for electrical subcontracts with procurement and construction groups. Other project functions include survey/assessments of existing facilities, master planning, scoping and estimating engineering effort, field work to assess conditions, report writing, conceptual design, review of drawings/specifications/calculation analyses, cost estimating, and providing services during bidding and construction (RFI responses, bid reviews, shop drawing reviews, site visits, commissioning support, progress meetings, and project closeout). The work location is approximately 55 miles from Idaho Falls. Responsibilities
Disposition NCRs and assess existing designs; respond to RFIs and issue DCNs that require Idaho PE license or the ability to obtain within six months. Conduct survey/condition assessments, master planning, scoping and estimating engineering effort; perform field work and report writing. Provide conceptual design, review design development drawings/specifications/calculations, assist with cost estimating, and support bidding and construction activities (RFI responses, bid reviews, shop drawing reviews, site visits, commissioning support, progress meetings, and project closeout). Required Qualifications
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-certified institution PE License in Idaho or PE in another state with the ability to obtain Idaho PE via NCEES Reciprocity 5+ years of electrical engineering design experience Construction support experience for Title 3 activities U.S. Citizen Short Circuit Analysis experience Knowledge of NEC Preferred Qualifications
DOE experience desired NQA-1 experience desired Arc Flash Analysis experience Experience leading groups of engineers and designers on major projects Ability to author proposals and statements of work Experience leading technical discussions with clients Familiarity with Instrumentation & Controls interface Residence within a commutable distance from Naval Reactors Facility, Idaho National Lab area Knowledge of broad range of electrical systems (power system design, substation design, fire alarm design, lighting design, load flow studies, communications design, grounding design, equipment selection) Ability to independently produce sizing calculations and other analyses/reports Experience providing construction support during construction Essential Functions
Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, lifting up to 20 lbs; longest distance carried up to 50 feet. Hand manipulation for grasping, pushing/pulling, fine manipulation; use of right and/or left hands. Occasional reaching above/below shoulder for supplies; work near construction equipment; potential exposure to dust, gas, fumes, noise, extreme temperatures/humidity, and work at heights. Travel may be required. Other Essential Functions
U.S. Citizenship required. Valid driver's license. Ability to work in a team environment. Professional behavior to enhance productivity and teamwork.
