Overview

Water Resources Engineer role at WSP in the U.S. Raleigh or Charlotte Office. Be involved in projects with the Water Team and contribute to a growing organization that meets client objectives and solves challenges. The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team on projects including drainage studies, layout, design and analysis of collection and conveyance systems, utility engineering, analysis of hydraulic structures and flood studies, stormwater management, and erosion control design. Location: Raleigh, NC (also open in Charlotte, NC).

Compensation may vary by location and experience.

Responsibilities

Create detailed designs of collection systems and analyze storm drainage features. Design Stormwater Control Measures (SCMs) and Sediment and Erosion Control Best Management Practices. Assist with preparation of environmental permit drawings, construction plans and specifications. Perform floodplain analysis of hydraulic structures and FEMA compliance. Perform routine engineering assignments requiring the application of standard techniques and procedures. Work independently on small projects, or assist other engineers on larger projects.

Required Qualifications

BS in civil engineering or related field from an accredited program. 1-3 years of relevant experience with civil engineering principles and practices, with experience in some or all of the following areas: Hydraulic and utility design. Bridge hydraulic/scour analysis and floodplain management. Working knowledge of basic hydrologic and hydraulics principles. Strong background using hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and design software such as MicroStation/GeoPak/OpenRoads, Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-2, TR-55, SWMM, etc. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work closely with other design disciplines. Good work ethic and ability to coordinate simultaneous tasks/projects.

Preferred Qualifications

Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is preferred. Affiliations with professional societies and active industry/community involvement are highly desirable.
