Lead Water Resources Engineer

for our Raleigh office. This is an opportunity to join a motivated Water Team and work on a broad range of water resources projects that support communities and environmental stewardship. This Opportunity

This role focuses on serving primarily public clients and advancing projects that balance infrastructure development with environmental protection and restoration. Your Impact Engage with local clients that have significant statewide impact in Raleigh, Charlotte, Wilmington, and with NCDOT.

Participate in business development activities including marketing, client engagement, and project initiation.

Guide the identification, prioritization, selection, and pursuit of opportunities to influence the future of the group and the State.

Mentor and collaborate with local engineers while leveraging national and regional expertise.

Lead project teams in preparing technical reports and designs for stormwater and water resources projects.

Ensure production of plans, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.

Practice responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications BS or MS in environmental, civil, biosystems & environmental engineering, or a related field from an accredited program.

Professional Engineering (P.E.) license in North Carolina, or another state with the ability to apply for a license in North Carolina.

8+ years of relevant experience with engineering principles and practices and project experience in areas such as:

Municipal stormwater conveyance and flood mitigation

Stream and wetland restoration

Watershed assessment and improvement of water quality

Hydraulic design for highway/transit

Bridge hydraulic/scour analysis and floodplain management

Dams and hydraulic structures

Project and client management

Strong communication skills and ability to work with team members across disciplines

Strong background using hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and design software (e.g., Civil 3D, OpenRoads, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, SWMM, SRH-2D)

Proven commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications Proven ability to contribute to the delivery of complex stormwater and water resources design projects

Recent experience with municipal (NC) stormwater and/or other public sector clients

Active involvement with relevant professional societies

Commitment to bettering local communities, protecting the environment, and serving clients as a trusted advisor
