Electronic Engineer 1 - Telecom (Hybrid)
Our client, a leading Pacific Northwest utility provider committed to public service and environmental preservation, is looking for an Electronic Engineer 1 - Telecom for their Vancouver, WA location. This position will work in the Telecommunications Engineering organization. The Telecommunications function provides engineering, design, and field support for telecommunication facilities and associated equipment, including fiber optics, analog/mobile radio, digital radio, power line carrier, operational telephone, microwave towers and antennas, emergency AC/DC power and UPS, communications buildings, multiplex equipment, and monitoring systems. Key Responsibilities
Provide telecommunications scoping input for concept design documents and produce draft detailed design drawings and draft bills of materials and statements of work based on analysis of engineering and design requirements, project parameters, and technical information compiled from multiple sources. Upon request of Project Manager or Contracting Officer's Representative, provide technical input and recommendations regarding technical tradeoffs and product compliance to existing policies and standards and budgetary constraints. Perform engineering studies with assistance from Subject Matter Experts, and document findings in formal reports. Participate in teams to research and test telecommunication and related equipment. Assist in development of requirements for technical specifications for procurement and construction of telecommunications systems and equipment. Provide technical support in the administration of material contracts and project management of turnkey system contracts as requested/directed by Contracting Officer. Use standard telecommunications guides, design templates, standards and specifications to scope and design assigned projects. Assist with the preparation of innovative design templates, standards, and specifications for approval by staff, as needed. Prepare comprehensive final scoping documents and design packages for assigned projects, including final detailed design drawings, draft statements of work, and all other documents for telecommunication equipment installation, layout, wiring, and testing for review and approval by staff. Prepare equipment settings sheets and all other documentation required to complete the design packages. Provide staff with material and equipment requirements for design projects and assist in preparing material requisitions for approval; coordinate for timely acquisition and delivery. Coordinate project requirements, plans of service and details with project team members and stakeholders during technical scoping. Participate in site visits and project phases including scoping meetings, equipment installation, and testing to ensure telecommunications requirements are addressed. Provide technical support to the construction organization during project installation and energization, including troubleshooting path obstruction and interference issues. Mark documents and maintain filing systems, files, emails, and records in accordance with compliance requirements. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in Electronic or Telecommunications Engineering. Candidates within 3 months of graduation will be considered; degree verification may be requested after graduation. Minimum 6 months of experience in Telecommunications Engineering or closely related field. Knowledge of engineering concepts, principles and practices applicable to components and facilities on a regional transmission system. Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively fulfill client/customer/team requirements. Valid U.S. Driver’s License. We are unable to accommodate corp. to corp. candidates.
