Structural Engineer 1 (Entry-Level) - Nuclear
Join Sargent & Lundy as a Structural Engineer 1 (Entry-Level) - Nuclear. Work with a hybrid schedule, 3 days in‑office at the Peachtree Corners office, GA.
Responsibilities
Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, and steel and concrete design to new nuclear facility projects.
Prepare design calculations, develop specifications, and support drawing development for nuclear plant improvements and modifications.
Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations using state‑of‑the‑art computer tools.
Conduct analyses for loading conditions such as wind and seismic.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering with strong academic background in materials behavior and structural analysis.
Completion of coursework in steel and concrete design.
Knowledge of practical application of structural engineering, including load analysis and design integrity.
Understanding of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans, drawings, and models.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with MS Office applications.
Valued But Not Required Skills
ABET‑approved engineering program graduate.
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as Engineer in Training.
Experience in writing and supporting structural engineering calculations.
Familiarity with structural analysis software (MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, GT STRUDL, ANSYS).
Familiarity with design codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, N690, ACI 318, ACI 349).
