Structural Engineer 1 (Entry‑Level) – Nuclear
Join Sargent & Lundy as a Structural Engineer 1 (Entry‑Level) – Nuclear. This role offers the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in structural engineering through a variety of challenging responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
Prepare design calculations, develop specifications, and support designers with drawing development.
Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations.
Conduct structural analyses for loading conditions such as wind and seismic.
Additional Opportunities
Receive training and mentorship from experienced structural design engineers on meaningful project engineering assignments.
Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews, plant site location visits, construction coordination, and field verification of designs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Structural/Civil, Architectural, or equivalent engineering discipline.
Strong academic background in materials behavior, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
Completion of coursework in steel and concrete design.
Knowledge of structural engineering loads analysis and design integrity.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with MS Office applications.
Valued But Not Required Skills
ABET‑accredited engineering program degree.
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam completion and Engineer in Training designation.
Experience in writing and supporting structural engineering calculations.
Familiarity with structural analysis software (MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, GT STRUDL, ANSYS).
Familiarity with design codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, N690, ACI 318, ACI 349).

Compensation Range $60,660.00 – $87,090.00
