Overview
Commissioning Engineer - Communication and Network (US) at Siemens Energy. Location: Raleigh, NC. Willing to travel up to 80%. What You’ll Do
Responsible for technically flawless, on-time, and economical commissioning of HVDC systems on construction sites worldwide, with a focus on data networks and network communication components at the SCADA level. Commissioning, support, and control of predominantly TCP/IP-based network infrastructure, HMI concepts, and their purpose-specific adaptation. Time synchronization responsibilities and management of local and remote signal converters and interfaces to other signal suppliers. Support other commissioning components, customers, and external partners in troubleshooting and testing communication interfaces. Support IBS management in quality, risk, and claim management. Participation in improvement programs (including Lean, reviews, and lessons learned). What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; preferably in electrical engineering, energy technology, or a related qualification. 3+ years of experience in network administration (switches, routers, etc.), basic HMI, and PC administration (hardware and virtualization). Higher experience may be considered for a senior level. Experience at a substation site and a basic understanding of substation site safety. OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred. NFPA 70E preferred. Basic knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, RADIUS), network security, and monitoring. Ability to read circuit diagrams and electrical systems. Willingness for worldwide travel and long-term assignments on construction sites in Germany and abroad; optional assignments on offshore platforms.
