Overview
Project Manager - Facilities Design and Construction. The Ohio State University (OSU)/FDC role includes managing capital building projects, renovations, mechanical/electrical and other projects from inception through closeout, across Design/Bid/Build, Design-Build and Construction Manager at Risk delivery methods. FDC oversees campus design, construction, and renovation projects, provides technical support services, and enforces building design standards. The Project Manager ensures projects run to schedule, meet financial objectives, and align with university goals while delivering high-quality customer service. Responsibilities
Manage, supervise, direct and coordinate new construction and renovation projects through the entire project life cycle (budget/estimating, scheduling, planning/design, bidding, construction, closeout). Coordinate pricing and proposals with contractors; monitor construction timelines and ensure contractors maintain schedule and budget. Review/approve monthly contractor billing, shop drawings, change directives, requests for information, and change orders. Coordinate interruptions of services with Operations staff, hospital utilities, energy partners, and others as needed. Ensure successful project handover to university operations and departments at occupancy; verify final invoices, contractual commitments, record drawings, and operating manuals are delivered to appropriate departments. Prepare and develop cost estimates, schedules, and scopes of work for new construction and renovation; review/negotiate consultant fee proposals; coordinate activities of architects, consultants, and contractors. Provide project status reports and schedules to Director of Projects, Administrators, and Senior Leadership; communicate with customers and stakeholders throughout all phases. Maintain project documentation in the electronic project file and project management system; participate in or lead coordination meetings; pursue continuing education and training. Qualifications
Required:
A bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience managing design and construction projects, facilities management, or planning, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Minimum Education Required: bachelor’s level degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Desired
3–5 years of relevant experience; familiarity with state and local building codes; knowledge of building systems and construction techniques. Experience negotiating contracts/fee proposals; excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, planning, and database software; valid driver’s license. Experience with CADD, Revit, BIM, or other drafting tools; university, academic, or public sector project experience; Registered Architect or Professional Engineer is a plus. Additional Information
Target hiring range: $75,700 – $98,900 annually. Actual salary varies based on education, experience, internal equity, etc. Function: Facilities, Engineering, and Acquisition; Sub Function: Facilities Project Management; Band: Individual Contributor; Level: S2 Experienced. Location: Enarson Classroom Building (0072); Position Type: Regular; Scheduled Hours: 40; Shift: First Shift. 50% chance of being required for 24-hour emergency call; travel to sites outside the Columbus Campus may be required; background check will be conducted.
