Mechanical Design Engineer

Milwaukee, WI * Manufacturing We are currently looking for a candidate who wants to make a difference and who wishes to be part of our dynamic organization. Working within a fast-paced team tasked with the design of tanks and enclosures. Close working relationships with others in the team will be needed to be able to provide quality and on-time releases of orders to production. Responsibilities

Perform a wide variety of layout and detailed design duties supporting quotations, orders, and manufacturing projects. Navigate issues, develop corrective actions, and implement solutions. Work independently and within a team, owning assigned tasks/projects. Ensure designs meet standard shop practices and capabilities. Handle secondary tasks such as troubleshooting, vendor communication, updating ECRs, contacting customers, etc. Maintain a work task balance of approximately 90% design and 10% other projects. Contribute to manufacturing and productivity improvements. Solve manufacturing and assembly issues on the shop floor for both short-term and long-term solutions. Collaborate with manufacturing on new product development, exploring manufacturing methods within budget and timeline constraints. Conduct pre-reviews and post-reviews of jobs to ensure continuous improvement in cost and quality. Coordinate with planning, quality, purchasing, assembly, and design staff to ensure efficient production methods. Requirements

High proficiency in SOLIDWORKS; a test will be conducted during the selection process. Knowledge of ERP systems; PDM experience preferred. Experience in sheet-metal and weldment design is desired. Familiarity with manufacturing processes. Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Hands-on individual capable of working from concept to implementation. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and schedules. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Design or related field is preferred. Global Power Components is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
