Responsibilities

In this position, you will gain experience that many Geotechnical Engineers seek early in their careers. As a design-build firm, we offer the opportunity to see the installation of your designs. You will gain cradle-to-grave experience in DESIGN, from preliminary design during the sales phase, through value engineering, to final design before mobilization to the construction site.

This role involves more than soil testing or report writing. You will use geotechnical reports to develop solutions for foundation challenges and perform state-of-the-practice engineering analyses for various geotechnical applications. You will produce construction drawings and calculations for ground improvement, earth retention, and ground modification projects.

When our installation crews mobilize, your expertise will be vital, and you'll see the tangible results of your work and its value to GeoStructures.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have an E.I.T. certification, a Master's Degree (preferred) in Geotechnical Engineering, or an undergraduate Civil Engineering Degree with relevant industry experience. Knowledge of software such as LPILE, SLIDE, GSTABL, SETTLE3D, MSEW, and Microsoft Office is a plus.

Applicants must have US work authorization.

Essential Job Duties:

Review geotechnical data and structural information from various regions and geologic settings. Assist senior engineers in developing preliminary ground improvement designs using proprietary products such as GEOPIER RAMMED AGGREGATE PIER SYSTEMS, GEOPIER RIGID INCLUSIONS, FULL DISPLACEMENT COLUMNS, and RAPID IMPACT COMPACTION. Assist in cost estimating, review of design plans and specifications, and collaborate with sales and construction teams. Prepare final design drawings and calculations for project management and design teams. Respond to field issues and update designs during construction of ground improvement projects.

Physical Requirements

This position is based in the Purcellville, VA office with minimal travel. Conduct site walk-downs with potential customers to understand service needs.
